What people are saying about The Good Life weekend…

karen“One of the best weekends of my life! And I have had a lot of weekends to compare it to. I experienced the best of food, wine, sport, health, nature and most of all, people. You can look at all the gorgeous pictures but to really understand and appreciate it you need to be there.

It’s one of those things that after going you immediately start planning for the next one and thinking of who you want to tell about it so they can come along and enjoy it too. I went in the spring 2014 and want to go again in 2015 and hope to bring my parents as well because I don’t see age as an issue. The GLW is for anyone who wants to share in the good things of life.” – Karen, Barcelona

keith“On arrival, very impressed with the location, buildings, and the quality of the accommodation. As other guests arrived we were quickly introduced and I immediately felt welcome. As the catering arrangements were explained, I could appreciate the amount of detail the team had gone into to make sure everyone had a good time, I certainly did.

The highlight of Saturday was the mushroom picking “supervised by a local” I never realised so many mushrooms existed, some of course deadly. Sunday a 6km walk traversing the hills/mountains around us was organised and this was also my first introduction to Nordic Pole walking, which I have since taken up seriously.

To summarise; the exercise regime I enjoyed immensely. Splendid Company, and I look forward to the next occasion when I hope to meet some of these people again” – Keith Taylor, UK, 5*Campsite owner

jess2“As soon as I arrived I was impressed, beautiful surroundings, fantastic room with lovely private bathroom and then onto a wonderful evening of great people and fantastic wine and food.

The weekend continued to bring more delights and it was great to balance with exercising in the sunshine in the stunning countryside surrounded by greenery. The feeling was of being completely taken care in a relaxed way amongst great company

My highlights were the pilates and box class and, the lovely gardens and pools and the food.” – Jess

jenny“From the moment we were welcomed by Nunu on Friday until we said goodbye on Sunday, I felt we were amongst like-minded people out for a good physical “have a fantastic time and get a bit fitter” weekend. Friday we were strangers and on Sunday we left as Friends.

The walking, the mushroom hunting, and the classes – everything was an adventure. For a “non Athletic” like me there were no mountains to climb, just the knowledge that I felt fitter on Sunday than I did on Friday, and it was all done so effortlessly with no hardships. Good food, good wine, good company all in the beautiful catalán countryside. Who could want more? I will certainly do it again.” – Jenny Taylor (UK) 67 years old – but you don’t have to be! Campsite owner

doina“I enjoyed The Good Life Weekend so much the first time, I was ready to sign up for the next one as I left! I have been in The Good Life house late spring and autumn and both times are spectacular. I adore the peaceful beauty that surrounds you there, both inside and outside the house.

I live a hectic “stressy” life in Barcelona, busy with work and children in a very noisy part of town. The GLW is the complete opposite to my everyday life which really allowed me to disconnect and relax. The tranquillity and beauty of the countryside leaves me with months of gorgeous memories that I can re-enjoy when I tell people about the wonderful weekend I have been part of.

The Food and wine add another exceptionally special aspect to the experience. The cheese and wine event allows everyone to relax and get to know each other. And there is no stinting, the wines flow freely! Breakfasts are indulgently healthy, with delicious smoothies that I would never get round to making at home. The walks and exercise clases were great fun and helped to “correct” the hangover!

My husband who doesn’t “do” physical activity but does appreciate good food and wine, also found he had a marvellous time with no obligation to take part, just undemanding company when he wanted it. I thoroughly recommend it!” Doina Taylor, Pilates Instructor and busy Mum of two boys.

andrewI participated in The Good Life weekend for the first time this year and what a wonderful relaxing weekend away this was. A great group of people in a very comfortable house with a variety of exercise/relaxing options

The food was fantastic (the wines too) and there were plenty of activities to participate in, including a nature walk looking for mushrooms (organised by Jordi) and a riverside walk near the local village.

Whether you want to participate in all the activities or just relax by the pool in the lovely rural setting, I cannot recommend this weekend enough! Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next one!” – Andrew

Jill1“I loved what I hope will be the first of many Good Life weekends. The pilates, country walks and massage were a great counterpoint to the delicious wines, cheeses and Argentinian BBQ.

Zoe, Nunu, Dany and Jordi were great hosts, the house we stayed in was charming, and the surrounding countryside was gorgeous. Can’t wait to do it again!” – Jill, 45,Translator, Barcelona

Maru“The Good Life is a total body promise which deals with all 5 senses in just one weekend…the boxing and pilates wake up the appetite for the fabulous food and wine.

The opportunity to have a massage with Nunu was a high point for me. She cares for you and really relaxes you allowing you to harmonise and connect with everything and everyone around you. All in all it’s a weekend of positive and different experiences, both healthy and relaxing.” – Maria Eugenia, Banking, Barcelona

suky“I had such a good time at the Good Life weekend. I didn’t know anybody when I arrived, but I felt immediately welcome, and I think what made the whole thing so special was that I   felt part of the gang, and the atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly.

I don’t know if I can choose one thing I liked more than anything else – it was a combination of all the little things put together over the weekend. One thing at a time: the food was homemade, healthy and delicious. And plentiful!

The exercise was a good mix of technique and hard work (enough to justify eating loads, luckily); the house was fantastically comfortable and warm, with a charm straight out of a mountain fairy tale. Even the bit of rain didn’t spoil anything. And then the little extra touches, like the massage and the wine and cheese tasting, were fantastic.

Everything was arranged to spoil us as much as possible. But it was more like being on holiday with a group of friends than an organised thing, so there was no pressure to all take part – some people didn’t do the boxing class, some of us went for a walk after lunch; some stayed up with a G&T, others had an early night.

To me it also stood out that everything was done to high standards and we were looked after with lots of care – there was no disappointing feeling that you often get from a hotel or restaurant where you’re just another customer and the initial shine turns out to be superficial.

This is definitely what I’d call the Good Life. Count me in for the next one!”  – Suky Taylor, Translator and Writer Barcelona

eduard“I have been on two Good Life Weekends both of which I thoroughly enjoyed but it was my wife’s idea to go. She likes exercising and socialising on her time off, I prefer to do as little as possible!

However, on the Good Life weekends I felt very comfortable to stay relaxing in our room whilst the energetic activities were taking place. The food was fantastic and there was lots of very good wine at meal times.

I very much enjoyed the excursions we did each time, particularly visiting a Monastery the first time and then when we went mushroom hunting in the autumn.

The house and gardens are very beautiful and encourage you to relax and take things easy, if that’s your thing. Of course the others also seemed to enjoy the classes and bouts of more activity. That’s probably the best thing about how the weekends are organised, there’s something for everyone.” Eduard, Barcelona

pam“I really enjoyed my Good Life experience, beautiful setting, loved the combination of outdoor exercise mixed with good wholesome food and amazing wines!!

I really enjoyed the wine and cheese reception on the first evening, great way to chat to everyone and get to know them a little. I thought it was a really unique weekend, absolutely love the concept, my kind of retreat!” – Pam Cunningham, 32, Barcelona

mary“The weekend was everything I expected and more!  The food is so delicious and fresh!  The massage was given outside privately by the water trickling.

Kick boxing was different than what I thought it would be, much more fun.  All of these wonderful people who attended made it very special.  And, all the lovely people who make this happen:  Dany & Nunu, Zoe & Jordi, and Patrice…wow…they thought of everything!!

I’m still thinking about it. I have wonderful pictures that I will treasure forever.  Thank you so much!!! “ – Mary Meloy

anna“I loved the good life weekend. Incredible location, fantastic hosts who organized everything brilliantly and took care of every last detail to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

As well as the amazing food, drink and activities, one of the things I loved the most was the great company. I think I laughed more at the Good Life weekend than I have in a very long time!
The perfect weekend to escape to the country, be pampered, relax and make new friends.”
– Anna Hudd

nicky“Just wanted to say what a pleasure it was to meet every one of you and how I am feeling better than I have in MONTHS! Everyone was so much fun, so open and I felt like I could easily live on a Good Life commune with you all for maybe a month before my belly muscles got worn out and needed surgery through too much laughing, clamming and eating brownies.

I look forward to a reunion because I need to know what happens at the Monster Inc themed wedding, how people’s life-changing plans are going and whether I saw colours because of the meds or because I really was in a little paradise!

As for those amazing organisers – all I can say is Wow! you not only have superhuman boxing, Pilates, massage, carrot-cutting and drink replenishing skills, but you are passionate and incredibly kind souls.
Thank you all – muchos besos!” – Nicola Thornton

valerie“I absolutely loved everything about The Good Life Weekend and would jump at the chance to do it again. I love the concept of combining really good food (and loads of it) and wine (and loads of that too!) with fun exercise, fresh country air and really great company.

Arriving to the magical Masia on Friday to be met with vermouth and fresh snacks and lots of smiley faces was already a great start, the cheese and wine pairing that night was delicious and great fun…everyone got on so well and we laughed a lot!

Starting both Saturday and Sunday with smoothies, french toast and boxercise was the activity highlight for me. Dany was a fun and patient instructor and the outdoor class flew by and I felt really great after it, so much so that I booked some more classes with him when I got back to Barcelona.

It was so great how such a lovely yet diverse group of people could get together and really enjoy a few days of healthy fun. I can’t wait to do it again!” Valerie O’Donoghue

lizzy“This is what the Good Life is all about. Set in a charming masia surrounded by breathtaking views and the peaceful Catalan countryside, we enjoyed endless dishes of tasty fresh food, delicious wines, fun outdoor activities and a relaxed vibe.

Highlights include the Argentinian bbq, pilates in the garden, country walks, wine and cheese tasting, massages… It exceeded my expectations, met some lovely people and have great memories to treasure.

Can’t wait for the next one! Thanks so much Good Life Team!” – Lizzy
